Dryer Vent Cleaning Cost in West Hollywood
People ask us for a price over the phone. The honest answer is: it depends on five things. This is what those things are, in plain English, so you can think clearly about what you are paying for.
Why nobody quotes a single flat price
If you call a vent cleaner and they give you one flat number before knowing anything about your building, be careful. Vent work changes a lot based on what is actually behind the dryer and where the vent ends up. A single-story house with a six-foot wall vent is not the same job as a third-floor condo with a thirty-foot run to a rooftop exit. Pricing both the same means somebody is going to be unhappy.
A real estimate takes one or two minutes on the phone, then a quick look once we are on site. We can usually narrow the range before we arrive, and we always confirm before starting work.
The five things that move the price
1. Vent length
The length of the duct from the back of the dryer to the outside. Short runs (under 10 feet, straight) are fast. Long runs (25-40+ feet, especially with bends) take more time, more tools, and more careful cleaning. A condo on the back of a building with the laundry near the front door will almost always cost more than a single-family home with a side-wall vent.
2. Roof access
Roof exits add cost. Roofs need extra setup, sometimes a ladder beyond what fits in a service van, and they are not always safe to access alone. Some West Hollywood buildings require building maintenance to open roof access for us. That can add wait time and coordination, which costs.
3. Building rules and access
HOA buildings, condo associations, and large apartment complexes sometimes have specific rules about service hours, common-area access, or who needs to be notified. None of this changes the work itself, but it can affect scheduling and how long the visit takes from start to finish.
4. Vent condition
A vent that has been cleaned every year is a routine job. A vent that has never been cleaned, or has not been cleaned in a decade, can be heavily packed with lint that needs more time and effort to fully clear. We see both, and we charge fairly for both.
5. Stacked or compact setup
Stacked washer-dryer units and tight laundry closets are common in West Hollywood condos. They take longer because pulling the unit forward requires more care, and reconnecting the duct in a tight space is not a five-second job.
What does NOT change the price
Some things sound like they should affect price but really do not:
- Whether you have a gas or electric dryer. Vent cleaning is about the duct, not the appliance.
- Brand of dryer. Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Maytag — same vent work behind all of them.
- How dirty the lint trap looks. A full lint trap tells us about use, not vent condition.
Things that look like extras but are not
We do not charge extra for:
- Looking at the outside vent flap (it is part of the job)
- A short airflow test at the end (it is how we confirm the job is done)
- Pulling out the dryer to access the duct (also part of the job)
- A quick walkthrough explaining what we found (we tell you anyway)
If a quote breaks these out as separate line items, you are paying for the basics twice.
Cheaper does not always mean better value
Very low quotes are sometimes real, but they can also signal a few things to watch for:
- The job is being done with only a leaf blower at the outside vent (not real cleaning)
- The dryer is not actually pulled out
- The duct connection at the wall is not checked
- The crew plans to add charges once they arrive ("we need to charge extra because...")
A clean, honest job is not the cheapest possible job. But it should be priced clearly and explained before work starts.
What to ask before booking
- Is this price for the full duct, including the outside vent? If the answer is vague, ask again.
- What if you find the vent is more clogged than expected? A good answer: "We tell you and confirm before we keep going."
- Do you need anything from the building? Some condos require notice.
- How long will it take? Most jobs are 45 to 120 minutes. Wildly different answers from different companies may mean different scopes.

Multi-unit pricing usually looks different. Grouped jobs at a single building cost less per unit than one-off visits, because the setup and travel time get spread across more units. Frequently asked questions
Do you charge a separate fee just to come out and look?
No diagnostic fee for a straightforward vent cleaning visit. If you specifically want an inspection only (no cleaning), that is a different service with its own price, but it is also lower than a full cleaning.
Can the price go up after you start?
Only if we find something we did not know about up front — for example, the vent is connected to a long run we could not see, or the duct itself is damaged. In those cases we stop and explain before continuing. We never add charges silently.
Why is condo work more expensive than house work?
Two reasons. Access takes longer (stacked units, tight closets, sometimes roof coordination), and the vent runs are usually longer. The job is doing more work, not charging more for the same work.
