What Changes After a Dryer Vent Cleaning

People sometimes ask whether vent cleaning really makes a difference, or whether it is one of those services that sounds good in theory and changes nothing in practice. Fair question. Here is what actually changes when the work is done right.

Drying time drops, usually a lot

This is the most obvious change. Before the cleaning, a load that should finish in 45-50 minutes might take 80-90 minutes. After cleaning a heavily restricted vent, that same load finishes closer to where it should be. Not because the dryer got stronger — because the moisture finally has somewhere to go.

How much faster depends on how bad the buildup was. For light buildup, you might shave 10-15 minutes off a cycle. For a vent that was packed with years of lint, drying time can drop by 30-50%.

The dryer runs cooler

A clogged vent traps heat inside the dryer. The dryer body, the door glass, the top — all get hot to the touch. After a proper cleaning, hot air actually leaves the dryer instead of recirculating, so the dryer itself runs cooler.

You may notice this without even looking for it. The dryer used to feel hot when you opened it. After cleaning, it just feels warm. That is normal.

The laundry area stops feeling like a sauna

If your laundry closet or room used to get noticeably warm and humid during cycles, that goes away. Heat and moisture were leaking into the room because they could not exit through the vent. With a clear vent, both go where they are supposed to go — outside.

Less lint shows up in places it should not
