3. Vent path. I trace the vent as far as I can see it. Does it go up to the roof? Through a wall? Across a ceiling to an exterior opening?
4. Roof access. If roof access is needed, I check whether the building allows it and whether the roof is safe.
5. Full cleaning. I clean the vent line with a brush. Long runs need longer rods. I work from both ends when possible.
6. Exterior cap or roof vent. I clear it.
7. Airflow test. I do a final test at the end so the client can feel the difference.

What you can do before service

• For tenants: ask the building manager if there is a maintenance log for vent cleaning. Sometimes it has been done recently; sometimes never.
• For unit owners: check with the HOA before scheduling. Some buildings handle vent cleaning at the building level.
• Clean the lint screen well before service.
• Move clothes, hampers, and storage away from the dryer area to give space to work.

When to stop using the dryer

Same rules as any dryer. Stop using it if:

• A burning smell appears
• The dryer feels very hot
